Okay, so I just moved into a new house, and one of the guys that lives there with me is a bit fishy.
He claims to be bipolar, but I’ve never seen him act differently from anyone else, other than a penchant for never cleaning up after himself. He has a whole bag of antidepressant sample packs, maybe that’s why.
Anyway, every single month, he collects about four to five hundred dollars pay from somewhere. Apparently it’s because he’s bipolar, and he can’t go to school and work simultaneously. I don’t know if he has to be in school to collect, but he takes one study-hall type class at a time.
He has a job, and he works six to seven hours a week. He also collects food stamps. According to his records there, he has an income of $0.00. His father, a psychiatrist, also gives him money.
Now, I can only really deal with the taxes I pay be telling myself that they go to people who need help, and this guy is shattering my illusions.
He’s gotta be cheating the system somehow. How can a normal, sane person collect five hundred dollars a month *and* food stamps while doing less work than I do in a day?
Any idea what this program could be, eligibility considerations, etc would be appreciated. Also, would it be possible for his father to have declared him bipolar when he isn’t? Or do they check for that kind of thing.
